Poor soil leads to a poor lawn, no matter how good the turf is. We level and grade everything carefully, creating gentle falls away from buildings so water does not collect.
Before the turf goes down, the ground gets a final rake and a light consolidation. It should be firm enough to walk on without sinking, but never compacted hard.
